Riolo Terme ist der Start- und Zielort dieses jungen italienischen MTB – Etappenraids. Der kleine italienische Kurort liegt in der Region Emilia-Romagna, nicht weit von Ravenna und Bologna entfernt, in den Hügeln am Randes des Gebirgszuges des Appennins, dem sog. “Appennino Faentino”, oberhalb der Poebene im Tale des Flusses Senio.


Die Hauptattraktion der von mittelalterlichen Stadtmauern umgebenen Stadt sind die Thermalbäder (Mineralwasser), die seit der Antike bekannt sind.

In diesem herrlichen Ambiente findet der 2. RALLY DI ROMAGNA in MTB: der nächste Renntermin ist der 8.-13. Mai 2011. In 6 Tagen müssen von den Bikern ein Prolog und 5 verschiedene Etappen, insgesamt 450 km und 14.000 Höhenmeter, bewältigt werden:. Die 1. Ausgabe wurde vom Deutschen Dirk Petscheleit (team-schmodder.de) gewonnen. Neben Startern aus Italien, Belgien, England war aus den USA Keith Bontrager persönlich mit dabei! Übernachtet wird entweder im Zelt oder im Hotel (2 x Hotelwechsel, sonst Übernachtung in Riolo): dafür werden eigene, sehr kostengünstige Hotel/Race-Packages angeboten. Was das Rennen betrifft, wird die genaue Streckenführung erst am Vortag des Raidstarts bekannt gegeben, jeder Teilnehmer wird dann für die Woche ein eigenes Roadbook bekommen. Den Raid kann man entweder individuell (Damen ohne Altersklasse + Herren Under40 und Over40) oder als 2er-Team (Herren, Damen + Mixed) bestreiten. Jeden Abend findet nach dem gemeinsamen Abendessen ein Briefing statt (in italienisch und englisch), unentbehrlich für eine ernste Rennleitung, wobei die nächste Etappe, eventuell spezielle kritische Punkte entlang der Rennstrecke oder Änderungen bekannt gegeben werden.

Während des Raids sind in jeder Etappe (einer oder mehrere) spezielle chronometrierte Streckenteile, sog. "prove speciali”, vorgesehen, bei denen die besten 6 Athleten eine Prämie erhalten, eine Art Zeitbonus zwischen 15 und 5 Minuten, die von der persönlichen Tagesbestzeit abgezogen werden. Die tägliche Maximalzeit darf von den Bikern nie überschritten werden. Entlang der Strecke sind außerdem eine oder mehrere Verpflegungsstellen und Check Points vorgesehen. Für technischen und medizinischen Beistand wird gesorgt.

Was das Startgeld anbelangt, kostet die Teinahme am Raid 350.-Euro (bei Zahlung innerhalb 12/03/2011) für Athleten, die im Basis Camp im selbst mitgebrachten Zelt oder Camper übernachten wollen (inkl. Abendessen und Frühstück im Hotel), 450.-Euro kostet hingegen die Anmeldung, wenn man während des Raids eine Übernachtung im Hotel bevorzugt. Nach jenem Datum muss ein Zuschlag von 100.-Euro dazugerechnet werden. Eventuelle Begleitpersonen zahlen für die Woche 250.- Euro und bekommen dafür die Übernachtung im Hotel, Abendessen und Frühstück.

next October 1st, 2010 the registrations for 2011 edition of Mongolia Bike Challenge will finally  open. 108 places are available for this second edition, and we have already received a lot of requests. We have decided some changes on the route and you will see them soon on our website.
We have also added a new category: KHAN CATEGORY . Here will be located, regardless of age, all professional athletes who will decide to compete in the land of Chinggis Khan.
